The Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is the extended wheelbase version of the more common Silver Spirit, and it continued the tradition of ultra-luxurious sedans that Rolls-Royce is still world-renowned for. This example was reportedly gifted by Michael Jackson to his mother, which adds a cool bit of history to an already cool luxury sedan. It’s also finished in an attractive color combination – and it hasn’t been significantly modified, which is a great benefit.

This Silver Spur was purchased new by Michael Jackson as a gift for his mother Katherine, according to the former owner. The California-issued “BWLYM” (“because we love you, mother”) license plate that this car reportedly wore during Jackson’s ownership is pictured in the gallery and included in the sale.
A partial list of notable equipment reported by the former owner includes a hydropneumatic suspension system, a vinyl roof, and folding tables in the front seatbacks. The only notable modification reported by the former owner is an Alpine CD player.
Wider, lower, and more angular than its predecessor, the Silver Spirit helped Rolls-Royce’s design language take a major step forward when it arrived in 1980. The stately long-wheelbase version launched that same year was named Silver Spur. Both variants put a major focus on comfort and luxury, and they were powered by the brand’s venerable V8. The Silver Spur Mark I retired in 1989, the Mark II was released in 1990, and the Mark III arrived in 1994 with several updates. Production ended in 2000.
Power comes from a 6.75-liter V8, rated at about 220 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission.
