The 996 is a great version of the illustrious 911, and one that’s getting more recognition in recent years. It offers wonderful performance and a thrilling driving experience – especially when it’s equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, like this one. This particular example offers a lot of benefits, including reasonably low mileage, xenon headlights, and a Bose sound system. It’s also reportedly had its IMS bearing replaced, which adds significant peace of mind.
2003 Porsche 911, finished in Seal Grey Metallic with a black interior.
This 911 is equipped with the desirable 6-speed manual transmission.
Factory equipment includes 18-inch Carrera II wheels, a power sunroof, leather upholstery, a Bose sound system, and more as detailed below. Modifications are limited to the installation of an LN Engineering IMS bearing, MagnaFlow catalytic converters, a lower center console delete, and tinted windows.
The fifth-generation “996” 911 was introduced for the 1999 model year and was the first 911 to be completely redesigned from its predecessors. While its water-cooled engine and distinctive headlights irked some Porsche purists, the 996 is appreciated by enthusiasts for providing an analog driving experience in a smaller, lighter package than the 911s that followed it.
A major update for the 2002 model year brought larger engines, a stiffer chassis, revised front fascia with Turbo-style headlights, pop-out cup holders, and a glovebox to the Carrera.
Power comes from an “M96” 3.6-liter flat-6, rated at 315 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
